About Us

Created in 2019 to support Greenwood’s Parks & Recreation Department, the Greenwood Parks Foundation strives to preserve, protect and enhance public parks, green spaces and recreational programming throughout the city to improve the quality of life for all residents.

Greenwood’s Parks & Recreation Department currently cares for 14 parks spanning 271 acres, more than 20 miles of linear trails and a variety of high-quality recreational facilities including Freedom Springs Aquatic Center and the Greenwood Community Center, home to Kid City and The Gym. The Foundation’s goal is to help the Parks Department grow, cultivate, expand and improve its facilities and programming to provide all with access to green spaces, outdoor fun and creative programming.

Krista Taggart is an attorney at Endress+Hauser, Inc., in Greenwood. Previously, she served for six years as corporation counsel for the City of Greenwood, where she enjoyed representing the Parks & Recreation Department in exciting projects such as creation of City Center Park, design and construction of Freedom Springs Aquatic Center, and the remodel of the Greenwood Community Center. Krista loves spending time in Greenwood parks with husband Ryan, daughter Rory and two dogs.

Beau Taylor has been a dentist at his family owned dental practice here in Greenwood since 2007. He works with his wife, Julia, and his father, Gary, who started the practice in 1974. He is a founding board member of the Greenwood Parks Foundation as well as a third-generation graduate of Greenwood High School. Beau, Julia and their three children enjoy visiting the parks and utilizing the Parks Department’s many wonderful services.

Brett Haworth is owner of the Greenwood law firm Henn Haworth Cummings + Page, which has a diverse practice handling matters of business law, employment law, personal injury law, family law, criminal law and estate planning. Brett grew up on the south side of Indianapolis and is a proud Greenwood resident. His sons John and William can frequently be found at Greenwood’s many parks, Freedom Springs Aquatic Center and Greenwood Community Center.

Donald P. Weir, Ed.D., is retired from IU Health, where he was coordinator for the Department of Employee Development. He specialized in leadership development programs and has resided in Greenwood for 22 years with his wife, Sharon, and their three children.

Rob Taggart has served as executive director of the Greenwood Parks & Recreation Department since 2013 and is a founding member of the Greenwood Parks Foundation. As executive director, Rob has overseen tremendous transformation and expansion of Greenwood’s parks and recreational facilities, including the opening of the Freedom Springs Aquatic Center, City Center Park, the remodeled Greenwood Community Center and the Play Pocket Trail. A landscape architect by trade, Rob is passionately committed to offering diverse and dynamic public recreation assets and programming.

Ama has a Master’s Degree in Health Administration and currently works at TRIMEDX, a clinical asset management company, as a Quality and Regulatory Specialist. Ama currently volunteers as a member of the Our Lady of the Greenwood Catholic School Commission. She has resided in Greenwood for over a decade with her husband Kwadwo and their two (2) children. Together, they enjoy spending time playing and walking at the Greenwood Parks.

Jason serves as the Director of Network Services for Cummins where he leads operations and engineering teams globally for network and security infrastructure services. Jason is a member of the Emergency Response Team at Cummins and is a certified Emergency Medical Responder. He has also volunteered as a member of the Technical Advisory Group lead by the Richard M. Fairbanks Foundation to assist the Marion County School Systems with remote learning tools given the Covid-19 outbreak. As a long time Greenwood Resident, Jason enjoys walking the extensive Greenwood trail system and looks forward to enjoying the dog parks with his new dog.

Annie Syers has been a children and family photographer with Annie Syers Portrait Design throughout central Indiana for over 10 years. She grew up in Greenwood and her family has deep roots in the community dating back to her grandpa, Jack Smart's Ford dealership. Annie and her husband Anthony live in Greenwood with their 3 children. Having lived all over the country, they agreed there truly was "no place like home" and decided to raise their family in Greenwood. As avid nature lovers, they are outside enjoying all of the parks and paths that our great community has to offer whenever possible.
